Job Title: Camp Director        

Location: Riverdale Park East, Toronto

Schedule: Summer Contract (July-August)     

        

Job Description:

The Withrow Park Ball Hockey Academy offers children between the ages of 6-14 years old the opportunity to continue playing ball hockey in the Riverdale neighbourhood throughout the summer. Although our primary focus is to improve our campers’ ball hockey skills, it is essential to promote the development of key life skills including teamwork and leadership, all while having fun. As a camp director, you will have the opportunity to develop and lead several drills in which campers can practice and improve their ball hockey skills including stick handling, passing and shooting. You, along with the other instructors, will be responsible for the campers throughout the day. You will also be responsible for daily interactions with parents and caregivers, so it is essential to have good customer service skills. Finally, the three camp directors are responsible for planning specific drills and activities to do with the campers. This ranges from on-ice drills to gym games such as dodgeball and torpedo, and some interactive games that can be played in case of rain. Keeping campers engaged and entertained is the most important part of the camp director role.

Responsibilities:

·      Plan, organize and deliver high quality, safe and stimulating ball hockey drills, gym games, and interactive games

·      Provide a high level of customer service including greeting and engaging campers and their parents

·      Maintain a safe and tidy arena and ensure proper storage of equipment

·      Maintain attentiveness while on duty and be ready to respond to any emergency

·      Report all concerns, accidents and incidents to camp owners for follow up and take appropriate action

·      Attend meetings/training as required

·      Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

·      Minimum of 18 years of age

·      Strong communication skills including good command of English, with the ability to work both in a team environment and independently

·      Excellent organizational & planning skills

·      Demonstrated knowledge/experience in a camp setting

·      Previous experience playing and/or instructing ball hockey is preferred

·      Current Standard First-Aid / CPR from an accredited organization
